Privacy Policy
BitaBit plays local audio, internet radio and podcasts without a required account, ads or a BitaBit library backend. This policy explains what stays on your device and which direct network requests are needed for online sources.
1. The short version
Local audio files, queues, playlists and playback state stay on your device. BitaBit does not operate an account or analytics backend. When you choose radio or podcasts, the app connects directly to the relevant public directory, feed, artwork and media providers.
2. Data stored on your device
The app may store the following locally:
- Playback queue and recent playback state
- Secure permissions for files selected through the document picker
- Local playlists, radio favorites and recent stations
- Podcast subscriptions, episode progress, downloads, feed cache and notification preferences
- App settings, cached artwork and extracted metadata
3. Radio and podcast connections
Radio discovery sends search and station requests to the public Radio Browser directory and connects to the selected station and its artwork host. Podcast discovery, feeds, audio and artwork connect directly to public search, feed and media providers. These providers receive the technical request data normally sent by your device, such as IP address and user agent, under their own privacy terms. BitaBit does not proxy these requests through its own backend.
4. What BitaBit does not do
For clarity:
- It does not upload your audio files to BitaBit servers.
- It does not sell or share listening habits with advertising networks.
- It does not create social profiles or public listening accounts.
- It does not sync your lists outside the device without an explicit system action.
- It does not read other apps' libraries or scan your whole device.
- It does not use microphone, location, contacts, camera or sensitive data to play music.
5. Third-party dependencies
BitaBit uses open-source audio libraries such as SFBAudioEngine and libvgm locally for decoding and synthesis, plus public radio and podcast services only when you use those features. Provider availability and privacy practices are controlled by those third parties.
6. Analytics & crash reporting
BitaBit does not include third-party analytics or crash-reporting SDKs. Apple may collect standard diagnostics if you have enabled sharing diagnostics with developers in iOS settings.
7. Children's privacy
BitaBit is rated 4+ and does not knowingly collect data from children. The app does not offer account creation or social features.
8. Your choices
You can remove imported files, playlists, radio history, podcast subscriptions, downloads and cached data from the app or by uninstalling BitaBit. Podcast notifications remain off unless you opt in and can be disabled in Settings or iOS at any time.
